“Radicle Disciples-Job 1”

This week's sermon focuses on the story of Job and the difficult truth that bad things can happen to good people. Job was not only the greatest man of the East in terms of wealth but also spiritually blameless, upright, and a true servant of God. Despite his righteousness, he suffered immense loss due to natural disasters, raids, and ultimately, physical affliction.

Even after losing everything, Job worshipped God, proclaiming, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” When his health was attacked and his body was covered in painful sores, even his wife urged him to curse God and die. Yet, Job’s integrity remained intact as he responded, “Shall we receive the good from God and not also the bad?”

This sermon will explore Job’s unwavering faith in the face of suffering and how, despite Satan’s attempts, Job’s relationship with God stayed strong. Please join us in person or on our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel at 10:00 am this Sunday as we reflect on the lessons from Job, a man blameless and upright before God."

Contact the church office if you can help in any way or if you have any questions.

October Outreach Offering

Ridgewood United Community Pantry
The Ridgewood United Community Food Pantry is a ministry initiated by Trinity United Methodist Church now engaging volunteers from five other United Methodist Churches (New Lenox, Hope—Joliet, Grace—Joliet, Ingalls Park, and Plainfield UMC). The Pantry serves residents of two zip codes on the East Side of Joliet. Open weekly, clients receive services once a month. Food is supplied primarily through the Northern Illinois Foodbank. Funds are used to purchase food from the Foodbank.  We choose to support this pantry in recognition of our history of having had a sister church relationship with Trinity UMC for many years.

Ways to donate to the October Outreach Offering:

  • Check or cash in an Outreach Offering envelope placed in the offering plate in the
  • Narthex (the room outside the sanctuary) or in the gold-plated mail slot at the church’s east door.
  • Online via our website. Select “Current Month Outreach” in the drop down menu.
  • Text the amount you want to give to 630-449-7121 and select “Current Month Outreach” in the drop down menu.
