“Radical Disciple - Job 3”

This Sunday, we’ll reflect on the story of Job, who lost everything but remained faithful to God and was ultimately restored by the Lord, and the story of the rich man who came to Jesus seeking eternal life but went away saddened after being asked to give up his possessions and follow him. Jesus looked deeply into the man's heart and saw that his wealth had become his master. This message isn’t about money itself; it’s about who or what truly holds lordship in our lives. Jesus challenges us to ask: Are we willing to let go of anything that competes with God’s place in our hearts? Though Job lost everything, he never lost sight of God’s lordship in his life. Later, God restored him, partly through the care and support of his friends and family. Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. as we explore what it means to make Jesus our ultimate Lord and remember the source of all we have—our generous and loving God.

Join person or on our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel at 10:00 am this Sundayas we explore this challenge together.

Woodridge UMC Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair and Bake Sale

Woodridge UMC is having a craft and vendor fair on Saturday, November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm.  Last year’s sale was successful.  Let’s see if we can make it a bigger success this year!  We are currently looking for crafters/vendors, donations for the bake sale from our members and volunteers for the bake sale raffle or raffle table and help price the items.  Also, does anyone live on a main street or high traffic area?  We have a couple of lawn signs for advertising the sale that would be great in that kind of location. Contact the church office if you can help in any way or if you have any questions. We could really use more vendors and bakers!

60th Anniversary Sign
Our current sign is 30 years old and no longer working.  In celebration of 60+ years together, we are working towards replacing the broken sign with a new electronic messaging sign.  Designs and quotes have been requested from sign companies. Research has given us a general idea of the costs, which are about $50,000.  Thanks to a generous donation, we have a substantial start to the fund.  However, this is a huge endeavor, and we are asking for further donations from the congregation.  Please join us in celebrating our church and donate today!  If you wish your donation to be in memory or honor of a loved one, we will publish the list when the sign is installed.

Meal Train for the Yim Family-Dates Still Available
Please sign up to provide meals for the Yim Family while Bang Wool is in  South Korea for cancer surgery and treatment. She will be traveling from September 27 to November 12. We are asking for meals to be provided Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from September 30 to November 8. Gift cards to local restaurants are also welcome. Soup "Train"!
Mike Marvel had another dental procedure and will be on a soup diet for the next three months.  We are looking for people to make soup, freeze some in a quart container(s) and bring it to church.  Please label the container with the type of soup. Pastor Dave will deliver the soup to Mike.

Bible Study
We are studying the Letters of Paul to the Corinthians.  The study will be offered on Tuesday mornings via Zoom (10:30 a.m. to Noon) and Wednesday evenings in person (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.).  We are reading one chapter together each week and go deeper with questions and discussions.  You can join any time!

Thank you to all the people who donated polar fleece for the hat, scarf and mitten outreach program.  We have reached our goal of 253 scarves!  We still need your help.  On Sunday, November 10th, we ask that you bring a pair of scissors to church.  After the service, we will be cutting the fringe of those 253 scarves in the narthex.

October Outreach Offering

Ridgewood United Community Pantry
The Ridgewood United Community Food Pantry is a ministry initiated by Trinity United Methodist Church now engaging volunteers from five other United Methodist Churches (New Lenox, Hope—Joliet, Grace—Joliet, Ingalls Park, and Plainfield UMC). The Pantry serves residents of two zip codes on the East Side of Joliet. Open weekly, clients receive services once a month. Food is supplied primarily through the Northern Illinois Foodbank. Funds are used to purchase food from the Foodbank.  We choose to support this pantry in recognition of our history of having had a sister church relationship with Trinity UMC for many years.
