extra hour of sleep before church at 10:00 am Sunday morning!

Woodridge
UMC Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair and Bake Sale
Woodridge UMC is having a craft and vendor
fair on Saturday,
November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm. Last
year’s sale was successful. Let’s see if we can make it
a bigger success this year! We are currently looking
for crafters/vendors, donations for the bake sale from our
members and volunteers for the bake sale raffle or raffle table
and help price the items. Also, does anyone live on a main
street or high traffic area? We have a couple of lawn
signs for advertising the sale that would be great in that
kind of location. Contact the church office if
you can help in any way or if you have any questions. We could really
use more vendors!
60th Anniversary Sign
Our current sign is 30 years old and no longer working.
In celebration of 60+ years together, we are working towards
replacing the broken sign with a new electronic messaging
sign. Designs and quotes have been requested from sign
companies. Research has given us a general idea of the costs,
which are about $50,000. Thanks to a generous donation,
we have a substantial start to the fund. However, this
is a huge endeavor, and we are asking for further donations
from the congregation. Please join us in celebrating
our church and donate today! If you wish your donation
to be in memory or honor of a loved one, we will publish the
list when the sign is installed.
3 Simple Rules - Final Class
The last session of 3

We will be meeting on November
9th at 5pm at Tong's Tiki Hut - 100 Roosevelt
Road in Villa Park (located between Ardmore and
Summit). Let us know by Friday, November 8th if you
plan to join us.

Scarf
Outreach
Thank you to all the people who donated polar fleece for the
hat, scarf and mitten outreach program. We have reached
our goal of 253 scarves! We still need your help.
On Sunday,
November 10th, we ask that you bring a pair
of scissors to church. After the service, we will be
cutting the fringe of those 253 scarves in the narthex.
Meal
Train for the Yim Family
Thank you to everyone that helped to provide meals for the
Yim Family while Bang Wool is in South Korea for cancer
surgery and treatment. Bang Wool will be back next
week.
You are all wonderful!!
Soup
"Train"!
Mike Marvel had another dental procedure and will be on a
soup diet for the next couple of months. We
are looking for people to make soup, freeze some in a quart
container(s) and bring it to church. Please label the
container with the type of soup. Pastor Dave will deliver the
soup to Mike.
Bible
Study
We are studying the Letters of Paul to the Corinthians.
In November, the study is on Wednesday evenings in
person and via
Zoom (6:00
p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) due to conflicts on
Tuesdays. We will read one chapter together each week
and go deeper with questions and discussions. You can
join any time! There will be NO Wednesday class on November
20th and 27th due to church conference and the holiday.

November Outreach Offering
Tree of Life Ministries
Tree of Life is a relief agency affiliated with the Dakotas
Conference of the United Methodist Church. Located in
Mission, South Dakota on the Rosebud Reservation, Tree of
Life serves several of the poorest counties in the United
States. The reservation has an 80% unemployment rate and over
50% of the Lakota people live under the poverty level and
cannot afford necessities. The ministries of Tree of Life
include: The Warm Welcome-feeding program and food pantry,
Tree of Life Boutique¬--thrift store and a construction
ministry which makes free repairs to over 50 homes and
community buildings each year.
Tree of Life has made great strides in developing respect and
understanding between cultures, helping to break down racial
prejudice and distrust. This is accomplished by providing
cultural presentations to volunteers, working together with
tribal agencies, and being involved in meeting daily needs.
For more information, please visit Tree of Life | Across
