WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

“Stewardship Sermon - Faithfulness”

Last Sunday, we began our stewardship sermons series with the theme of “Lordship.” Recognizing who truly owns our lives is the starting point of stewardship. In the story of the rich young man, he left Jesus saddened when Jesus asked him to sell all he had, give to the poor, and follow Jesus. This wasn’t just a question of money – it was about lordship. Jesus was asking, both the young man and each of us, “Who is the Lord of your life? Is it Jesus? Money? Something else?” True stewardship begins with our confession that God is the owner of our lives.
This Sunday, we will continue with our second sermon in the series, focused on “Faithfulness.” In our weekly Bible study, we’ve been studying 1 Corinthians, where the Apostle Paul reminds the church in Corinth that we are “servants of Christ and stewards of God.” God, who owns everything, entrusts us to care for what is God’s. As God’s stewards, we are called to be faithful.  But what does faithfulness truly mean? Have we been faithful to God in our roles as God’s stewards? We invite you to join us in person or on our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel at 10:00 am this Sunday for worship as we explore these questions together and seek to grow in our commitment to God.

Woodridge UMC Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair and Bake Sale

Woodridge UMC is having a craft and vendor fair on Saturday, November 9th from 9 am to 2 pm.  Last year’s sale was successful.  Let’s see if we can make it a bigger success this year!  We are currently looking for crafters/vendors, donations for the bake sale from our members and volunteers for the bake sale raffle or raffle table and help price the items.  Also, does anyone live on a main street or high traffic area?  We have a couple of lawn signs for advertising the sale that would be great in that kind of location. Contact the church office if you can help in any way or if you have any questions. We could really use more vendors!

60th Anniversary Sign
Our current sign is 30 years old and no longer working.  In celebration of 60+ years together, we are working towards replacing the broken sign with a new electronic messaging sign.  Designs and quotes have been requested from sign companies. Research has given us a general idea of the costs, which are about $50,000.  Thanks to a generous donation, we have a substantial start to the fund.  However, this is a huge endeavor, and we are asking for further donations from the congregation.  Please join us in celebrating our church and donate today!  If you wish your donation to be in memory or honor of a loved one, we will publish the list when the sign is installed.

3 Simple Rules - Final Class
The last session of 3 Simple Rules will be held on THIS Sunday, November 3rd at 8:45 - 9:50 am Thank you for your patience.

Scarf Outreach
Thank you to all the people who donated polar fleece for the hat, scarf and mitten outreach program.  We have reached our goal of 253 scarves!  We still need your help.  On Sunday, November 10th, we ask that you bring a pair of scissors to church.  After the service, we will be cutting the fringe of those 253 scarves in the narthex.

Meal Train for the Yim Family
Thank you to everyone that helped to provide meals for the Yim Family while Bang Wool is in South Korea for cancer surgery and treatment. Bang Wool will be back next week.
You are all wonderful!!

Soup "Train"!
Mike Marvel had another dental procedure and will be on a soup diet for the next couple of months.  We are looking for people to make soup, freeze some in a quart container(s) and bring it to church.  Please label the container with the type of soup. Pastor Dave will deliver the soup to Mike.

Bible Study
We are studying the Letters of Paul to the Corinthians.  In November, the study is on Wednesday evenings in person and via Zoom (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) due to conflicts on Tuesdays.  We will read one chapter together each week and go deeper with questions and discussions.  You can join any time! There will be NO Wednesday class on November 20th and 27th due to church conference and the holiday.

Just in Time for the Holidays - Gift Card Sales are Back!!
