Ministry Opportunities
Easter Flower Ordering Here NOW
Easter Flower order envelopes are
available in the narthex. Another nursery for
Easter Flowers has closed its doors. Our new nursery
has early deadlines even if Easter is late. All orders are due by SUNDAY,
February 23rd. Please place your orders as
soon as you can, so we do not have to make any substitutions
or miss out on some really beautiful flowers. You can
also find the order form here.
Volunteers Needed
The bishop is holding a clergy session bible study here on Monday, February
24th and a large number of people are
expected. We are looking for breakfast appropriate
refreshment donations (fruit, juice, pastries, donut holes,
sweet breads, etc.). Homemade is never turned down, but
store bought is also welcome!! Drop off your
items on Sunday, February 23rd by 11:30 am. Please
contact the church office if you are available to
help.
Volunteers with a spirit of radical hospitality are also
needed to set up, oversee, and clean up after refreshments
that start at 9:30 am and lunch at noon. Make our
church SHINE in front of our guests! Help is needed
from 8:30 am through ~2:00 pm. We could have two shifts with
enough volunteers (reception vs lunch).
New
Men's Group
All men of our church are invited to the first meeting of our
new Men’s Group. Join us for fellowship and
conversation on Saturday,
February 22nd at 9:00 am for coffee and
donuts while brainstorming what we want to group to do and
be.
Rides
to Church on Sundays
We are looking for someone(s) who is able to drive a
long-time member of Woodridge UMC looking to return to church
on Sundays from Lisle (Jenny P.) but is unable to drive
herself. Ideally, we would have a group of people that
could take turns driving for her. Please contact Pastor
Dave or the church office if you can offer your
assistance.
Boxes
Needed
Pastor Jim and Deacon Beth Galbreath are moving to be close
to their son in just a few weeks and are in need of
boxes. If you can drop any off to the office by this
Wednesday, it would be greatly appreciated! If you have
any thin ones that would work for mirrors/large pictures that
would also be appreciated.
First
Friday Lunch
Join us for lunch at noon TODAY Friday, February 7th.
Just bring your lunch and be ready for good conversation and
of course laughter. Let’s celebrate the New Year! Everyone is
welcome!
Preschool

together and brainstorm how to best utilize our former
preschool wing. Our first meeting is scheduled for TOMORROW, Saturday,
February 8th at 9:00 am. This meeting
will provide an opportunity for us to share ideas and discuss
how we envision using this space in the future.
Second

Terrace, 321 75th St, Willowbrook, on Saturday, February

continues in January. The study is offered on Tuesday mornings
via
Zoom (10:30

chapter together each week and go deeper with questions and
discussions. If you are newly interested in
participating, please contact the church office, 630.968.6050

Woodridge
UMC Outdoor Sign
Our current sign is 30 years old and no longer working.
In celebration of 60+ years together, we are working towards
replacing the broken sign with a new electronic messaging
sign. We
are currently investigating quotes for the new electrical
needs. Thanks to generous donations, we are most of the way
there. We do still need an additional $3000-$7000. A
firmer number will come after we hear from the
electricians. Please join us in celebrating
our church and donate today! If you wish your donation
to be in memory or honor of a loved one, we will publish the
list when the sign is installed.
Welcome
Bags
Woodridge UMC has Welcome Bags to give to our visitors!
The bags are our 60th Anniversary reusable grocery
bags with brochures from our church and the Northern Illinois
Conference. Each visiting family can be given a bag and
asked to fill out the visitor information tear-off in the
church brochure (especially, if they would like to receive
the electronic newsletter). The bags are located on the
black bookcase by the television in the Narthex.

please attend the rehearsals leading up to the service date.
It is that simple! For a full schedule see here
or the handout in the narthex. In order to plan music,

Welcome the Strangers Among Us
Letter from Bishop Dan Schwerin January 27th, 2025
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me . . .”
(Matt. 25:35)
There are many images in scripture for the life of faith: the
body of Christ (I Cor. 12), the household of God (I Peter),
and the vine (John 15). While John Wesley taught that our
life of faith entails personal holiness, he also helped us
understand that our life together is one of social
holiness.

February Outreach Offering
UMCOR - California Wildfire Relief
On January 7, strong Santa Ana winds in Los Angeles caused
wildfires to spread rapidly in multiple communities.
Thousands of homes and businesses have been destroyed, as
well as multiple local United Methodist Churches. PRAY for
California As countless families and communities face the
overwhelming aftermath of these wildfires, UMCOR is
supporting the efforts of conference disaster response
ministries across the region. Evacuees are receiving food and
other essential supplies. Trained volunteers are preparing to
assist where it is safe to do so. Pray for all
those impacted by this disaster, as well as first responders
and volunteers. The road to recovery will be long, but
together, we can bring hope and healing.
Ways
to donate to the February Outreach Offering:
- Check or cash in an Outreach
Offering envelope placed in the offering plate in the
- Narthex (the room outside the
sanctuary) or in the gold-plated mail slot at the
church’s east door.
- Online via our website. Select
“Current Month Outreach” in the drop down menu.
- Text the amount you want to give to
630-449-7121 and select “Current Month Outreach” in the
drop down menu.
