“Because of the Son of Man”

A great multitude from Judea, Jerusalem, Sidon, and Tyre—both Jewish and Gentile territories—came to Jesus to hear him and to be healed of their diseases and troubles by touching him. It may be hard for us to believe that power came out from Jesus and healed them all. What’s particularly interesting in this story is, first, that Jesus allowed them to touch him, and second, that his power went out and healed them all.

Let’s explore the story of Jesus together this Sunday, as it reveals essential truths that we must know and practice in our daily lives as his followers. Jesus has broken borders and barriers to reach each one of us, showing that we are deeply important to him.

Join us on Sunday morning in person or on our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel for worship  at 10:00 a.m.!

Easter Flower Ordering - 2 Sundays Remaining

Easter Flower order envelopes are available in the narthex.  Another nursery for Easter Flowers has closed its doors.  Our new nursery has early deadlines even if Easter is late. All orders are due by SUNDAY, February 23rd. Please place your orders as soon as you can, so we do not have to make any substitutions or miss out on some really beautiful flowers.  You can also find the order form here.

Breakfast Donations Needed
The bishop is holding a clergy session bible study here on Monday, February 24th and a large number of people are expected.  We are looking for breakfast appropriate refreshment donations (fruit, juice, pastries, donut holes, sweet breads, etc.).  Homemade is never turned down, but store bought is also welcome!! Drop off your items on Sunday, February 23rd by 11:30 am. Please contact the church office if you can help.

Sign Committee Meeting
There is a Sign Committee meeting TODAY, Sunday, February 16th after service to discuss the electrical options and any potential design improvements.

March - April Upper Rooms
There are a few Upper Rooms for March - April are available in the narthex with a limited number in the mailbox.

New Men's Group
All men of our church are invited to the first meeting of our new Men’s Group.  Join us for fellowship and conversation on Saturday, February 22nd at 9:00 am for coffee and donuts while brainstorming what we want to group to do and be.

Rides to Church on Sundays
We are looking for someone(s) who is able to drive a long-time member of Woodridge UMC looking to return to church on Sundays from Lisle (Jenny P.) but is unable to drive herself. Ideally, we would have a group of people that could take turns driving for her.  Please contact Pastor Dave or the church office if you can offer your assistance.

Bible Study
Our Bible study of the Letters of Paul to the Corinthians continues in January.  The study is offered on Tuesday mornings via Zoom (10:30 a.m. to Noon) and Wednesday evenings in person (6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.).  We will read one chapter together each week and go deeper with questions and discussions.  If you are newly interested in participating, please contact the church office, 630.968.6050 or office@woodridgeumc.org or Pastor Dave (PastorDaveYim@woodridgeumc.org).

Woodridge UMC Outdoor Sign
Our current sign is 30 years old and no longer working.  In celebration of 60+ years together, we are working towards replacing the broken sign with a new electronic messaging sign.  We are currently investigating quotes for the new electrical needs. Thanks to generous donations, we are most of the way there.  We do still need an additional $3000-$7000. A firmer number will come after we hear from the electricians.  Please join us in celebrating our church and donate today!  If you wish your donation to be in memory or honor of a loved one, we will publish the list when the sign is installed.

Welcome Bags
Woodridge UMC has Welcome Bags to give to our visitors!  The bags are our 60th Anniversary reusable grocery bags with brochures from our church and the Northern Illinois Conference.  Each visiting family can be given a bag and asked to fill out the visitor information tear-off in the church brochure (especially, if they would like to receive the electronic newsletter).  The bags are located on the black bookcase by the television in the Narthex.

WUMC Music Ensembles: 2025
Our Music Ministry offers you three ways to get involved: the Handbell Choir, the Worship Band, and the Adult Choir. This could be the year you take that “leap of faith” and join a group! All ensembles are LOW commitment. We ask that you please attend the rehearsals leading up to the service date. It is that simple! For a full schedule see here or the handout in the narthex. In order to plan music, please RSVP to Carrie by the dates listed.

Adult Choir (8th grade through seasoned adults) RSVP was due by Feb. 9th.

Outreach Opportunities

February Outreach Offering

UMCOR - California Wildfire Relief
On January 7, strong Santa Ana winds in Los Angeles caused wildfires to spread rapidly in multiple communities. Thousands of homes and businesses have been destroyed, as well as multiple local United Methodist Churches. PRAY for California As countless families and communities face the overwhelming aftermath of these wildfires, UMCOR is supporting the efforts of conference disaster response ministries across the region. Evacuees are receiving food and other essential supplies. Trained volunteers are preparing to assist where it is safe to do so.   Pray for all those impacted by this disaster, as well as first responders and volunteers. The road to recovery will be long, but together, we can bring hope and healing.
