“Do You Love Me?”

John 21:1-17

Jesus appeared once again to his disciples—this time not in the same room, but on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The disciples had returned to their former workplace, the sea where they once fished for a living. About three years earlier, they had left everything behind—their boats, their nets, even their families—to follow Jesus. Now, they were back to catching fish. Why? Because they thought they had lost Jesus forever. But that wasn’t true.

After Jesus’ death and resurrection, he is no longer limited by time or place—he is now present everywhere. The Spirit of the risen Lord is with them—and with us—every day and everywhere. In this encounter, Jesus encourages his disciples, and us, to care for the sheep that belong to him. But who are the sheep? And what does Jesus really mean when he asks, “Do you love me?”

Come explore this powerful message with us this Sunday. All are welcome to our 10:00 AM worship service in person or on our Woodridge UMC YouTube Channel for worship  at 10:00 am!

Native American Ministries Sunday THIS Sunday
Native American Ministries Sunday serves to remind United Methodists of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society. With more than 20,000 Native Americans within the denomination, this special Sunday helps to ensure that Native American United Methodist leaders are recognized, provides hope for a brighter future in impoverished communities, and a voice to those who have felt voiceless for centuries.

25% of every donation made on Native American Ministries Sunday provides scholarships. Your donations provide development, implementation, and assessment of a higher education recruitment and retention for Native American clergy.

50% of donations to Native American Ministries Sunday remain in local annual conferences. The Northern Illinois region has a high population of Native Americans from varying tribes, many of whom have encountered harm or misunderstanding from the Christian church. The Northern Illinois Conference Committee on Native American Ministries (CONAM) leads efforts to provide basic educational resources for churches to explore the history and culture of Native Americans in their region and gain a better understanding of contemporary Native American life.

Fleece Donations Needed
We have learned that Joann Fabrics was a source of much of the fleece that has been used to make scarves for Woodridge school children the last few years.  As they are now going out of business we are asking that if anyone is able to purchase a few yards of fleece to donate for use this fall it would be appreciated.  You can bring any donations to church where they will be stored until needed.  Thanks!
