Peace
With Justice Sunday - June 15th
Peace with Justice Sunday is next Sunday, July
15th. The United Methodist Church
uses this day to speak out for peace and justice. Our Social
Principles call us to love our enemies, seek justice, and
serve as peacemakers in resolving conflict. We renew our
commitment that to live into our mission of transforming the
world, we must prioritize collaboration among nations, work
to reduce the use and need for weapons, and foster just,
equitable and durable solutions to the root causes of
conflict. Contributions support programs that
witness to God’s demands for a faithful, just, disarmed, and
secure world.
Half of the funds raised on Peace With Justice
Sunday will remain in our conference to support ministries
locally. The other half goes to The General Board of Church
& Society to provide grants that will further the pursuit
of peace across the denomination.
Donations for this special Sunday support
programs and ministries to educate, equip and mobilize
actions in support of identified economic, health, and gender
justice priorities. Look for the Special Sunday envelopes in
the narthex. See the NIC Conference information below
for a way to take personal action.

Action Alert: Take
a Stand Against Gun Violence
Jesus' call to his followers to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9)
echoes God's dreams for peace for all of creation as
expressed in Micah: “They shall beat their swords into
plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall
not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn
war any more; but they shall all sit under their own vines
and under their own fig trees, and no one shall make them
afraid; for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken”
(Micah:3-4).
In this vein, the United Methodist Church calls
upon all United Methodists to lead as peacemakers and
prophetic witnesses to make our communities safer from gun
violence. This includes weeping with those
who weep, as well as pushing for positive change from our
elected officials.
United Methodists must regularly remind their elected
officials how their faith informs their advocacy to prevent
gun violence. Write to your Representatives and Senators
today. See more information here.

grounding of our call to action as Methodist.

boundaries and foreigners, immigration facts vs.
misconceptions, NIC organizations that support immigrants,
