Road
Construction Update
In addition to the frontage road, Woodridge Drive from 75th St to 71st
St has started construction. At times
traffic may be stopped and will be one lane. The Village
estimates that the work to add a turn lane will only take one
week. The frontage road to the church will be under
construction by the county and completely closed to through
traffic. Currently and for the foreseeable
future the far north entrance to the church parking lot
off Catalpa is available. The driveway off of the frontage
road should be open until the final stage. For
guaranteed access, please use the north Catalpa driveway. To
get there, go to Janes and take Sioux. Then, take a RIGHT at
Hawthorne, and then follow Ravinia to Catalpa. The
church is on the corner of the frontage road and
Catalpa. (There is a map in the Narthex). The
entire project is projected to be completed by
November. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
See the letter from the County here.

Northern
Illinois Conference
Letter
from the Bishop and Council of Bishops
Greetings in the hope we share in Jesus Christ.
I write to remind the church of Jesus’s commitment to
children and that our welcome and treatment of children, in
the words of Jesus, “welcomes me.” I write to disseminate the
information I received today from the Council of Bishops on
the administration’s new targeting of unaccompanied children
(see below).
We will try to follow up with appropriate
information, but for now, check on your neighbors. Reach out
to family. Watch coming and going from schools. Protect
unaccompanied minors who may be targets of racial profiling.
Church, please also be in prayer, returning to the Lord’s
Prayer, that “your kingdom come, your will be done.”

Emergency Solidarity Appeal for Immigrant
Neighbors
Bishop Schwerin reminds us to pay attention to
our neighbors. Toward that, he is asking NIC United
Methodists to support a new Emergency Solidarity Fund. It
will primarily assist Hispanic and Latine people (and other
immigrants) within our conference area who are facing
hardship.
It has become increasingly dangerous for people of any
immigration status to leave their homes, including for work,
which results in lost pay; to take children to their school
bus stops; to shop for groceries; and to attend worship
services. Requests for funds will be reviewed by a monitored
small group.
Use your church bulletins and newsletters to encourage people
to give to this fund. Assist our law-abiding citizens and
newcomers as they seek to live safely and support their
families.

October Outreach Offering -
South
DuPage CROP Walk
This month we are happy to be directing our
October outreach giving to support the South DuPage CROP
Walk. This money is in addition to any donations made
directly to our walkers on the Woodridge UMC team page 2025 CROP Hunger Walk - Woodridge UMC
The South DuPage community has raised over $1,000,000 over
the past 39 years through holding this annual CROP Hunger
Walk, which helps to support the grassroots, hunger-fighting
development efforts of Church World Service (CWS) partner
agencies in more than 80 countries.
CROP Hunger Walks help to provide tools of hope that empower
people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to
wells and water systems, to nutrition-enhancing Moringa
trees, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the
key is people working together to identify their own
development priorities.
- 75% of the money supports the
hunger programs of the Church
World Service(link is external) (the
outreach arm of the National Council of Churches).
- 25% of the money supports local
hunger agencies, including Downers Grove
FISH, Hope's Front Door, Lisle Township Food
Pantry, Meals on Wheels, People's Resource Center,
and West Suburban Community Pantry.
