The Staff Parish Committee has updated the job
description for Music Director and will be posting the
opening in various locations. Please share that we are
looking for people who are interested in the position. The
committee prays for guidance as we work to fill this very
important role in our church.
Ministry Opportunities
Peace with Justice Sunday Next Week
Peace with Justice Sunday is the next
denomination-wide Special Sunday. Our Social Principles call
us to love our enemies, seek justice, and serve as
reconcilers of conflict.
If we want peace, we must be committed to
disrupting these conditions and systems that perpetuate
injustice.”
Half of the funds raised on Peace With Justice
Sunday will remain in our conference to support ministries
locally. The other half goes to The General Board of Church
& Society to provide grants that will further the pursuit
of peace across the denomination.
Donate for this special Sunday support
programs and ministries to educate, equip and mobilize
actions in support of identified economic, health, and gender
justice priorities.
Bible
Study
We are studying Jeremiah. The study is offered on
Tuesday mornings via Zoom (10:30 am to Noon) and Wednesday
evenings in person (6:00 pm to 7:30 pm). We will meet
again starting
April 21st & 22nd and running through May 26th & 27th
respectively. We will read one chapter
together each week and go deeper with questions and
discussions. Let Pastor Dave know if you are interested
in joining!

Group Meeting

We will have lunch in the youth room.

Drive
Along with St. Scholastica, Prince of Peace and Christ the
Servant churches, we are sponsoring a blood drive at St. Scholastica

Friday Lunch
Please join us on Friday,
June 5th at noon for lunch. No
planning, no reservations, no responsibilities! Bring your
sack lunch and a good sense of humor because there are sure
to be laughs. Everyone is invited!
Second
Saturday Diners
June Second Saturday Diners will take place on Saturday June 13th
at 5:00 pm, and we will be meeting for dinner
at Grand Duke's Restaurant located at 980 75th St. Downers
Grove. There is something special about the fellowship
that takes place around a dinner table. Don't miss out as we
gather for food, friendship, and laughter. It’s a chance to
relax, enjoy each other’s company, and it's also good to
remember that sharing a meal together is one of God’s
favorite traditions. Come hungry — for food and fellowship!

Graduate
Recognition Sunday June 7th
During the worship service on Sunday, June 7th, we
will honor all our graduates: junior high, high school,
college, and beyond. If you or a family member are graduating
this spring let us know so we can include you! Please email
the church office (office@woodridgeumc.org)
with the graduate’s name, a photo, and the school from which
they are graduating as well as what’s next for them (college
& major, job, etc.).
Summer
Learning Series
Woodridge UMC is interested in sponsoring a summer learning
series BUT some of the programs require a minimum number of
attendees to take place. Please sign up in the
narthex if you are interested in a program
and indicate when you would be available and we will try and
make these events happen!
Missionaries
Dan, Kim, and their two children will be in the U.S. for
seven weeks this summer, traveling across the country. We are
fortunate that they will be here in Illinois for two weeks in
July.
For the past 16 years, the family has lived overseas,
primarily within Muslim countries. Their ministry involves
Scripture translation, clinical counseling, and team
ministries. Throughout their journey, they have walked in
faith, trusting in God’s guidance.
Their calling is to serve the Muslim community with love and
respect; however, they often share that they receive far more
than they give through these relationships. Though they have
faced significant challenges—including war, loss, and
trauma—they testify that God has remained faithful and kind.
If you would like to hear more about their experiences and
ministry, I encourage you to join us for a meeting with Dan,
Kim, and their family this July!
Everyday Hero Program (20
minimum)
The DuPage Health Coalition is introducing an initiative
designed to empower community members with the knowledge and
confidence to respond effectively in cardiac emergency
situations, at no cost. It’s been found that bystander
response to cardiac emergencies is notably low throughout
DuPage County. The training covers: Hands-only CPR; How to
use an AED; Responding to choking; Overdose education and
Naloxone administration. The instructors are American Heart
Association–certified, but to reach the most people, this is not a certification
course.
End of Life Advance Planning
Many people are overwhelmed or underprepared when it comes to
their final wishes, so Modell Funeral Home has put together a
seminar to share about funeral preplanning. It may not be
something we talk about all the time, but it is so important!
The presentation is designed to be a helpful, educational
experience focused on planning for end-of-life services,
answering questions, and allowing individuals to explore
their options in a comfortable, no-pressure setting.
Be Red Cross Ready (10
minimum)
Be Red Cross Ready is a preparedness education curriculum for
adults designed to help people understand, prepare for, and
respond appropriately to disasters. It’s important to prepare
for possible disasters and other emergencies. Natural and
human-caused disasters can strike suddenly, at anytime and
anywhere. There are three actions everyone can take that can
help make a difference...Get a kit. Make a plan. Be informed.
Learning Ai Chi for Mind and Body Relaxation
Ai Chi is simple exercise, usually done in water, and
adaptable to land. It is also a relaxation program
using a combination of deep breathing and slow, broad
movements of the arms, legs, and torso in flowing continual
patterns. It moves with nature. Exercises include
a mental component, focus on muscle and movement sense,
breath as a centering activity, physical form, and perceiving
the movement and flow of one’s intrinsic energy aka
chi. The movements will be adapted to the capabilities
one has. Appropriate instrumental music will used to
enhance the flow of movements and overall experience.
Sharing
Our Gifts with Ray Graham
Our Ray Graham day program is looking for volunteers to spend
an hour or two sharing their gifts with their clients. Can
you bake (above the cupcake level), teach simple carpentry
(fastening two boards together), talk about your culture,
etc.? You are welcome to share your hobbies and knowledge!
Please let the church office know, and we will share the list
of volunteers with Ray Graham, so they can work out a
schedule.
Altar
Flower Donations
If you would like to donate an arrangement of flowers for the
altar, you are welcome to bring one in. Please let the
church office know by noon the Wednesday before, especially
if the flowers are in memory/honor of someone, so that they
may be acknowledged in the bulletin and announcements.
Sunday
School is on Break
Sunday
School will return after Labor Day. Most Sundays,
Children begin the worship service in the sanctuary with
their family. Following the “Praying” segment, the children
will be invited up to the chancel steps for conversation with
the pastors. Then, the Sunday School teacher will meet the
children in the Narthex (the big room outside the sanctuary) &
walk them to their classroom. They will be in the Trinity
Room in the main hallway.
Activity Bags are available in the Narthex every Sunday.
Prayer Ministry
Our Prayer Chain is a group of caring people who believe in
the power of prayer. We are dedicated to praying for your
concerns and joys. Prayer requests will be shared with the
church’s prayer chain, honoring your confidentiality. If you are
interested in being a part of the church’s prayer chain
ministry, please contact the church office.

would like to submit prayers to the Prayer Chain of Joys and
Concerns, please contact the church office, text Pastor
Dave with your prayer requests or give him a note
before worship service.
Toastmasters
Would you like to speak with more confidence in any setting?
Toastmasters can help! The Woodridge Toastmasters club meets
on the 2nd
and 4th Thursday of the month at Woodridge United Methodist
Church. Come visit us and see for yourself!

Annual Conference Needs Volunteers
The 2026 Annual Conference is just around the corner (June 14th
– 16th), and we invite you to be part of what
makes this gathering welcoming and meaningful. We are seeking
volunteers to help provide hospitality to our guests and
assist with the many moving parts that help Annual Conference
run efficiently. We need volunteers to serve in a
variety of roles.

Annual Conference Will
Focus on Hope
Under the
theme “Practicing Hope,” clergy and elected lay members will
gather for NIC’s 187th Annual Conference session, June 14th – 16th,
at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in
Schaumburg. The theme invites participants to explore how
hope shapes ministry, mission, and the future of the
church. “Hope allows for newness. Hope allows that God
will call us forward. Hope allows us to say yes to whatever
call is placed on our lives,” said Bishop Schwerin.
